About this tool

Squeeze your text to fit specific character or word limits while preserving the core meaning and adapting to the target platform. Perfect for LinkedIn connection messages, tweets, email subjects, SMS messages, and other constrained formats. Simply enter your original text, specify your constraints (e.g., under 280 characters, max 50 words), and select the use case (LinkedIn, Twitter, Email, etc.). Our AI will intelligently rewrite your text to meet your requirements while maintaining clarity and effectiveness.

How to use the Text Squasher

  1. Paste your text into the Original Text box.
  2. Pick a Template, such as Tweet (X) or SMS Message, or choose Custom and fill in the Constraints and Use Case.
  3. Click Squash Text, or press Ctrl+Enter (Cmd+Enter on a Mac).
  4. Copy the Rewritten Text, or click Move to Input to squash it further.

Frequently asked questions

What are common character limits for posts and messages?

A post on X allows 280 characters for most accounts, and a standard SMS fits 160. The templates here preset targets like these, including 200 for a LinkedIn note and 70 for a news headline, and Custom lets you type your own limit.

Will the result always fit my limit?

Usually, but not always. The AI aims for the constraint you set, but language models count characters imperfectly, so check the length before you post. If it runs long, click Move to Input and squash it again with a tighter limit.

Is my text stored?

Your text, constraints and use case are sent to our server and passed to an AI model to write the shorter version. The text you enter is also recorded in our usage analytics, so avoid pasting anything confidential.

Is the Text Squasher free?

Yes. It is free to use without an account or sign-up. Each visitor can send a limited number of requests per minute to prevent abuse, which is more than enough for normal editing.
