Frequently asked questions

What does maintaining the aspect ratio mean?

It keeps the width and height in the same proportion as the original, so the picture is not stretched or squashed. With Maintain Aspect Ratio on, changing one side updates the other automatically. Turn it off only when you need an exact size and do not mind distortion.

Can I create many sizes at once?

Yes. The Bulk tab takes one image and exports it at many sizes in a single ZIP, with presets for favicons, iOS and Android app icons, PWA icons and social media. Each size is drawn at exactly the dimensions listed, so use a square image for icon presets.

Are my images uploaded?

It depends on the mode. Single resizing sends your image to OpenTools' server, resizes it there and returns it without saving a copy. Bulk resizing runs entirely in your browser, so those images never leave your device.

Which file types and sizes are supported?

Single mode accepts JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP files up to 20 MB and keeps the original format. Bulk mode works in your browser and gives the best results with JPG and PNG source images.
