About this tool

The Audio Trimmer & Merger tool allows you to manipulate audio files directly in your browser. Use the trim feature to cut specific portions of an audio file, or use the merge feature to combine multiple audio files into a single file. Supports popular formats like MP3, WAV, and OGG. All processing happens in your browser, so your audio files never leave your computer. Perfect for podcast editing, music production, creating ringtones, and audio preparation.

How to use the Audio Trimmer & Merger

  1. Choose the Trim tab to cut one file, or Merge to join several.
  2. Drag your audio in, or click Browse File (Browse Files on the Merge tab).
  3. To trim, set the start with the top slider and the end with the bottom one; to merge, use the arrows to put the files in order.
  4. Click Trim Audio or Merge Audio, and the result downloads as a WAV and appears under Preview.

Frequently asked questions

Are my audio files uploaded?

No. Your files are decoded, cut and joined with the Web Audio API in your browser, then saved straight to your device. The audio itself never goes to a server.

What format is the result?

Results are uncompressed 16-bit WAV files, which play almost everywhere and avoid a second round of MP3 compression. A trimmed file keeps your original file name, so rename it to end in .wav if your player will not open it.

Why is the WAV so much bigger than my MP3?

MP3 is compressed and drops detail you are unlikely to hear, while WAV stores every sample. A minute of stereo WAV at 44.1 kHz is roughly 10 MB, about ten times a typical MP3, so convert it back to MP3 if file size matters.

Can I merge different formats together?

Yes. Any format your browser can play, such as MP3, WAV or OGG, can go into the same merge. The merged file uses the channel count of the first file you added, so add a stereo file first if you want stereo.

Is there a file size limit?

There is no set limit, but the audio is held in your device memory while it is processed, so very long recordings can be slow or fail on phones. A desktop browser handles big files best.
