Frequently asked questions

What is ads.txt?

Ads.txt (Authorized Digital Sellers) is a plain text file at the root of your domain that lists the companies allowed to sell your ad inventory. Each line holds the ad system domain, your publisher account ID, the relationship (DIRECT or RESELLER) and an optional certification authority ID. Buyers check it to avoid spoofed inventory.

What is the difference between ads.txt and app-ads.txt?

They use the same line format. Ads.txt covers ads shown on your website, while app-ads.txt covers ads inside mobile and connected TV apps and lives on the developer website listed in the app store. The generator drafts both at once so you can use whichever you need.

Where do I find my publisher IDs?

In each ad network's dashboard. Google AdSense, for example, shows your pub- ID in account settings, and most networks give you the exact ads.txt line to copy. The generator can't look IDs up for you, so paste your real ones into Requirements and check the output against them.

Where is my input sent?

Your domain and requirements are sent to OpenTools' server and passed to an AI model that writes the files, so this tool does not run in your browser. Ads.txt files are public once uploaded, but leave out anything you would not want to share.

Is the ads.txt generator free?

Yes. It is free to use with no account or sign-up. Requests are rate limited per visitor to keep the service available, so if you hit the limit, wait a moment and try again.
