About this tool

The Photo Rotator turns a photo to any angle without leaving your browser. Drop in, upload, or paste an image, then set the angle with a fine slider or snap it in 90-degree steps. Pick an output ratio (from the original shape to 1:1, 4:3, 16:9, and more), zoom, and drag to reposition the shot, in both modes. Crop to fit fills the frame and trims whatever falls outside it; add padding places your photo on a background and fills the space around it with any colour, transparency, or an AI-generated extension of the scene that you can keep and carry on editing. A live preview shows exactly what you will get, then download it as a PNG. Rotating and framing happen on a canvas in your browser, and your photo is only sent to a server if you use the optional AI fill.

How to use the Photo Rotator

  1. Drop a photo in, click Browse files, or paste one from your clipboard.
  2. Drag the Angle slider, or use the 90-degree left and right buttons for quick turns.
  3. Pick an Output ratio and Zoom, then drag the photo in the preview to position it.
  4. Under When rotating, choose Crop to fit, or Add padding with a colour, transparent or AI fill background.
  5. Click Download PNG to save the result.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded?

Not for rotating, cropping or padding, which all happen on a canvas in your browser. Only the optional AI fill sends the framed photo to our server and an AI image model so it can paint in the empty areas.

Why do rotated photos get cropped?

A tilted rectangle no longer fits its original frame, so the corners poke out and empty triangles appear. Crop to fit zooms in until the frame is full and trims the corners, while Add padding keeps the whole photo and fills the gaps with a background.

Do I need an account for AI fill?

Rotating, cropping and colour padding are free with no sign-up, but AI fill needs you to sign in. Choose AI fill the background under Add padding, click Generate AI fill, and keep the result if you want to carry on editing.

Can I keep a transparent background?

Yes. Under Add padding, choose Transparent and the downloaded PNG keeps see-through corners, which is handy for stickers, logos and layered designs you finish in another app.

What file types can I use?

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP images up to 20 MB. Results always download as PNG, a lossless format, so your photo does not lose quality to another round of compression.
